37th STREET AT CHRISTMAS IN AUSTIN, TX
If you're ever in Austin, Texas at Christmas time, be sure to drive down 37th street (starting at Guadalupe) and see the lights! For a two block stretch, nearly every house is decked out with enough Christmas lights for a town of 10,000 people. It sure is a stunning site. And people don't just string lights around -- they make props, tableaux, use Light Brights, and even cover an entire wall with boxes of Christmas lights still in their boxes. It's worth making the trip, take it from Peteena. Park your car on the other side of Guadalupe (you know how to say that like a Texan, don't you -- GWAH-da-loop) and walk the length, you'll see lots more and won't have to wait in the line of cars that extends for blocks waiting to get in. Plus, you get to walk all the way around one of the most amazingly decorated houses and watch their electric meter spin like a top!
